Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to read this site, plan a visit, and send us a request, whatever device or assistive technology they use.

We build this site toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. That is the standard we measure against and work toward. We are not claiming we have hit every part of it, because that would not be honest, and the list further down says where we know we fall short.

This is the important part of the page. If any part of this site gets in your way, tell us and we will fix it or get you what you need another way. You do not need to explain why, and you do not need to use any particular words.

It helps if you can tell us the page you were on and what happened, but send us whatever you have. A real person reads it.

The same goes for your visit. If someone in your group needs an accommodation in the building, call or email ahead and we will sort it out before you arrive.

• Every link, button, and form field shows a clear gold outline when you reach it with the keyboard, so you can always see where you are.
• A Skip to main content link is the first thing you reach with the keyboard on every page, so you can jump past the menu.
• Every form field has a real label, not just grey text inside the box.
• The mobile menu and the date picker both close with the Escape key, keep the keyboard inside them while they are open, and put you back where you started when they close.
• Form errors are announced, carry an icon and the word Error, and are not signalled by colour alone.
• Every image has alternative text, or is marked as decoration when it carries no meaning.
• Each page has one main heading, and headings run in order below it.
• If your device is set to reduce motion, the moving banner, the fading sections, and the shimmering text all stop.
• Body text, buttons, and form fields meet the contrast levels WCAG asks for against the dark background.

We would rather write this down than pretend it does not exist. As of the date at the top of this page:

• The map on our contact page. It is an embedded map from another company and we do not control what is inside it. Our full street address sits in plain text right next to it, and there is a text link that opens directions, so you never need to use the map itself.
• The spam check on our booking form. It comes from another company. It normally runs invisibly, but if it ever shows you a puzzle, that puzzle is theirs and not ours. If it stops you from sending the form, call or email us and we will take your request directly.
• The date picker on our booking form. We have made the calendar open, close, and return focus properly with a keyboard, but the calendar grid itself comes from an outside component and its month and year menus may not be announced perfectly by every screen reader. The preferred date is optional, and you can always tell us the date in the requests box or on the phone instead.
• Some decorative borders are faint. The thin gold outlines around certain cards sit below the contrast level WCAG asks of meaningful graphics. They are decoration only. No information, button, or form field depends on seeing them, and every control has its own visible edge.
• Our questions section scrolls sideways. The cards in the frequently asked questions area move left and right rather than down the page. There are labelled arrow buttons and it works with a keyboard, but it is a less familiar pattern than a plain list.
• We have not tested every combination. We test with a keyboard and with automated checks. We have not tested this site with every screen reader, browser, and operating system that exists.

We do not install an accessibility overlay or an accessibility widget on this site. Those tools promise a quick fix, people who rely on screen readers often turn them off, and they can make a page harder to use. We would rather fix the underlying page, which is what we have done and will keep doing.

When we change the site, we check the things on this page again. When something on the list gets fixed, we take it off the list and change the date at the top. If you find something that is not on the list, tell us and it goes on it.
